Hey Folks - Looking to see if anyone has a link to download the 980 Editor software? To avoid all the licensing discussion, here is my situation.

I purchased the MX-950 many years ago. Under warranty URC replaced it with a MX-980 for a reasonable up charge. Because I did not originally have the programming software, they were gracious enough to provide me a download link, which I did onto Win XP. Recently I just upgraded to Win 7.

(Yea I know I really live on the bleeding edge of technology, Ha Ha! Actually I'm a MAC user and I keep windows around for several of my home automation programs.) Anyway when I upgraded to 7, the MX-980 editor would not transfer. I spoke to URC, but because they have moved totally to Complete Control, none of them had the old software. If they had they would have gladly provided to me due to the fact that I am merely trying to maintain my personal system. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to download the executables along with the expansion packs or has a disk. As I said URC doesn't care, as this is no longer a supported program.

Appreciate any guidance and help. I don't get why URC wouldn't have the editor software to give you, you'd think they'd keep it around somewhere somehow for whatever reason. You might want to ask for the editor software over at Remote Central - surely someone there has it and hopefully they'll give it to you since you legitimately had it previously.

Don't you still have the original EXE or ZIP file on your old PC? _______________ Yes, I thought it was strange also that they did not have a copy, but they seemingly did a pretty thorough search. I don't have the exe file as they provided me a link the first time that allowed me to install directly to my computer. The link was active for a long time, so I was able to easily download if I needed on another device.

Again, all for personal use. My error in not saving a download copy, which would have probably had the executable. I will try Remote Central. Thanks for that. Was just hoping with all the DIY and installers here that someone might have a copy.

The Remote Central forum for the MX-980 is the Professional one, not the Consumer one. Next time you get the download you should upload the install file to whatever Cloud storage provider you use (Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox). At this point you should just try to find CCP instead of the Editor. You'll get updates to the program as well as to the IR database. Yep, you're right I should have saved a back-up. I would be happy to get the CCP program, but as a DIY'er I don't think they will provide that.
