Basically, I have some.mkv files that are encoded as H.264 with AAC audio. I have installed Haali media splitter.

Now, when I render the file in Graphedit, it can render the audio (using microsoft's own decoder) but the video is not rendered or decoded. I have Cyberlink PowerDVD installed and it plays BDs an absolute treat, however the decoder 'Cyberlink H.264/AVC' is not visable in filemerit, although most of the other Cyberlink ones are. I have played around with CoreAVC and I am not happy with it. Given that Cyberlink PDVD plays my BDs so well, I want to use it's own CODECs for DirectShow.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why that particular CODEC is not available for DirectShow? That's not good! The Cyberlink CODEC decodes beautifuly and I was hoping to use it in MediaPortal for my HD video files. I've noticed on your guide (which is very good by the way, thanks) that you have the Cyberlink CODEC. Would you be able to advise how you managed to register the filters manually?

I also have version 7.3 that came with my BD drive. By the way, I used the CD key that came with the disk to install PDVD but I have noticed that they are after another one that you have to pay for! Is this right?

Thanks for replying. To clarify this a bit more, you can only (manually) register the 264 decoder from specific versions of PowerDVD: those earlier than about version 4617 I think, but I can't remember for sure. If you have a version newer than that, then you *will not* be able to register the decoder, regardless of whether you move the folder and so on. In my case, I had 7.3.4617 installed, which by default offered up its HD decoder to other DirectShow applications. When I upgraded it, I noticed the HD filters were gone, so I downgraded it back to 4617, then took a copy of the VideoFilter folder, stashing it in (for example) C: VideoFilter I then upgraded PowerDVD to the latest version.

Finally, I opened a command prompt at the level of C: VideoFilter and ran: regsrv32 CL264dec.ax. I navigated into the correct folder and ran 'regsvr32 cl264dec.ax'. The program appeared to run but gave no confirmation, error or anything. I then opened Filemerit and the codec is still not visable.

Opening GraphEdit confirms that it is not available in DirectShow. Now the file is definately there. I am running PowerDVD version 7.3.

There is no further information other than 7.3 although it does also mention that I am running the PowerDVD BD 2CH version with internal packs MPEG4 AVC pack and mobility pack. It would appear that I need to register using a CD key that did not come with my disk (I have the PowerDVD BD Solution disk that came with my driver, the key on that CD is not long enough to fill the CD key PDVD needs). It also mention an SR no: DVD090821-08.

I forgot to mention: I am running Windows Vista 64-bit. Would this affect things? Hi, thanks for the replies. No, I'm not typing in the speech marks and I am definately using regsvr32 for REGSerVeR32. What I don't get is that there is no error or confirmation and nothing is getting added to the list of things available for directshow.
